George has been working with stone for as long as he can remember. As a boy in Scotland he remembers walking around the farm in Scotland with his Dad fixing the old stone walls that criss-cross the landscape. While studying Engineering at Edinburgh University, George turned to an apprenticeship in stone masonry as a summer job, never expecting to use it again. However, after seven years behind a desk, he was ready to return to his roots. Hence The Stone Man, started in 2002, and operating successfully today.

"Stone seems to be a part of my destiny. I feel so blessed to be able to make a living doing what I love! The Stone Man company was started with simple goals: to preserve the heritage of quality stone construction, and bring Old World style stonework to destinations throughout Charlotte and the US.

After many successful projects, I am proud to say that we have become the stone landscaping company of choice in the Charlotte area. We hope to expand this success around the country through our franchising efforts. Despite all this, my main daily goal is to make sure I always get dirty and go home with a sore back!"
